Why did Aurora Heller become an attorney? Her mother taught her to believe in the moral of the Polar Express—anything can be real if you believe in it wholeheartedly and without expectation. And her dad taught her to be righteous, or, euphemistically, consumed with pursuing justice and fairness even to her own personal short-term detriment/discomfort. The day Aurora realized what she wanted to do… well it’s the day that she realized she wanted to be a foil to Kissinger. The dream of being Secretary of State was Aurora’s attempt at changing the world for the better. And that led her down the path of the law. Time has changed her dream and her path, but not her drive. Receiving a full merit scholarship to a top ten law school despite having to take the LSAT during chemotherapy highlights the moral of her story. Aurora was raised to believe she could achieve anything if she just tried hard enough. And so she did.
